SETTING THOUGHTS FREE.
ONE EXPRESSION AT A TIME.

Neha Limaye is a self-taught expressionist who expresses her creativity through multiple mediums.

Neha believes that as humans we have the gift of “thought and expression”. Thought knows no boundaries. So why should the art of expression be confined? This one question is what drives her work. Just like her thoughts, her work transcends from one medium to another wandering in the world that has no boundaries. Neha has and continues to work with oil, watercolors and acrylics – on canvas, wood, glass and more…

All pictures on this page are of hand painted original paintings on canvas or wood. Every painting or set of paintings displayed here is a unique piece (no prints available). All pieces are for sale unless mentioned SOLD. Please contact videomail or social media DM for pricing.

For everyday priced prints, check the Series Painting a print page.

PROJECTS

Artezen Living

Today we live in a world that is nearing it’s end. Or so it seems. The Arctic is melting, seasons are shifting, wars make no sense, faith and religion no longer seem peaceful and humans are losing their minds. Literally! So what do we do? Or can we do anything? Well, for one, we cannot waste time asking questions. This is the time to act. Act now or the loss is ours. Do every bit we can. The simple stuff – Conserve resources. Reduce waste. Recycle. Give back. These are lifestyle shifts that most of us are consciously adopting for the betterment of the planet. Every little bit helps and will go a long way towards the well being of our planet.

But is saving the planet enough? What about us? What about we who inhabit this planet? What about our well being? Are we healthy? And I am not referring to only physical health. What about our mental health and well being? Statistics show that every couple of seconds, someone between the age of 30 and 70 is dying from a non communicable disease. Mental health and stability contribute largely towards prevention of non communicable diseases. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals or Global Goals address the need to improving mental health and well being to reduce premature mortality from non communicable diseases. In addition to that, suicide still remains the second largest cause of death in ages 15 to 29. Why? What is it that is making our youth choose death over seeking help to resolve their problems? Not to mention, the unfathomable acts of mass killings that have unfortunately become our gory reality. (Agreed that our law makers are turning a blind eye to one of the key issue that could help reduce these mass killings, but that’s a topic for another day and time). Right now, my focus is on the steps that we can take or I can take towards helping save us humans from self destruction. That said, mental well being is the need of the hour and if I can take a step towards addressing that need… then that is what I am going to do.

According to the World Health Organization, mental wellness is defined as “a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community.” In other words or if I state it the way I understand it; mental well being starts with a happy state of mind and is further enhanced by a sense of achievement resulting from being creative and productive. This gives us the ability to face challenges and resolve them. Thus achieving equilibrium in life.

Taking that as a guiding principle and building up from my personal experiences, I have come to the conclusion that art can be the most therapeutic to the mind and soul. Thus, The Artezen workshops were born. These workshops are run on a very unconventional approach, where every individual is guided to create and experience their own unique art under the guidance of either me or an artist vetted by me. Each piece is a reflection of the individual at that time in their life. Each piece is their own soulful creation. Each piece is their sense of achievement. Thus, each piece is a step towards a mindfully healthy them.

Over the past couple of years, The Artezen workshops have led to many happy minds and beings through visual art workshops. We are now expanding to other forms of art to build a full rounded Artezen experience. Our goal is to continue to promote mental well being within individuals, groups, work places and communities… one art creation and one smile at a time. Let’s not let the statistic get the better of us. Let’s live an Artezen life!

MELTING ART

When three forms of art (or may be four) come together… what you get is a pot full of melting art that forms a concoction like none other. It’s challenging, intriguing and satisfying all put together. The MELTING ART group is just that and more – different personalities with different minds trying to emote and express their thoughts through varied mediums.

Our first project – ELOQUENCE, brings together powerful poetry from Pankaj Kanth, translated into visuals by me; further transformed into a soulful rendition by Darshana Menon; and music also from, Pankaj Kanth.

ART AND SPICE

Art comes in pleasing palettes and can please palates. Art and Spice is just that – a collaboration of two different forms of art; the visual and tasteful. When a dear friend Sarika Saxena of Spice Gali (https://www.facebook.com/spicegali/) conceptualized her love for food into menu themed pop up dinners in an intimate setting, she reached out to me to add an added visual element to her first pop up event. The result – an experience that appealed to all five senses – visual art combined with heart touching stories, aromatic delicacies with tantalizing tastes and just all over feel good vibes!
In the process of creating a visual and spoken presentation of my art, I was forced to think back to the inspirations behind each piece and the times when I created them. The outcome was a heartfelt story telling experience for both me and my audience. Part of the outcome was also the dawning of a realization that every piece is a reflection of the artist’s state of mind at the time of creation. Some are dark, some are playful, some are thoughtful while some others are just plain minimalist. Every piece bares the artist’s heart out… and that is the beauty of the art of expression. Expression – a form of art that we all have within us, but choose to suppress with the fear of letting too much out. But expressing can be contagious and that is exactly the phenomenon we experienced at this evening of Art and Spice. One story led to another and another and before we knew it, we were all baring our hearts out… be it me the artist, the chef who served up food inspired from her grandmother’s kitchen or the audience who were just there to enjoy an evening of food and art. Before we knew it, we were all full in our tummies, but our hearts were lighter from sharing stories.
All in all, this collaboration has led to soul satisfying evenings filled with thought provoking conversations, inspirational stories over freshly prepared plates and happy faces all around. Sarika and I are continuing to collaborate on this concept of Art and Spice and we hope that there will be many more tables where expressions will be dished out to complement the plates served up.
