A rosy situation. . Gulab Jamuns, aka the rose and sugar syrup doused mini donuts. Made these a few days ago to celebrate Ganesh festival - which is a 10 day celebration for the most loved god of India... Ganpati, aka the Elephant God. . I am not the most religious person, nor am I an Atheist. I was raised Hindu, I studied in a Catholic school and I have lived in 3 different countries on 3 different continents. Safe to say that I am a Global Citizen and my idea of a Holiday is when the family is together, be it Diwali or Christmas. That said, Ganpati and the Ganesh festival are very close to my heart... a lot of lovely memories attached there. . This picture also has some sentimental value to it. The silver bowls and spoons were part of my wedding trousseau from my parents and my mother-in-law. The stone carved Ganpati, a wedding gift as well - from my childhood time best friend @shubhramashelkar. This Ganpati has been with me ever since. 😊 . As for the Gulab Jamuns - they are made from a milk powder dough, deep fried and soaked in sugar syrup that is infused with roses, saffron and cardamom. Pop one in and it’s an aromatic, heavenly, melt in your mouth experience. I can share the recipe to make from scratch, but I suggest going the semi homemade route and making them from the @chitalebandhu pack. You cannot go wrong.
