From the storybooks... and from your watercolor paintings. . Walking through the little villages of England and Scotland, it’s a vivid picture of the influence of the British reign over India that was ingrained into every little thing. From architecture to afternoon tea to education. It continued after independence and you can still see traces of it in the present day. As a child having studied in a Convent run school, I had read storybooks by English authors who talked about little cottages with their rose gardens and fences just like these. I had learned to imagine them, because they were not our reality. We lived in a tropical zone but learned about the 4 changing seasons and depicted them in our watercolor paintings. We lived an Indian lifestyle with a British twist.
