Happy Independence Day, India.

Happy Independence Day, India. . You are where I spent my foundation years until I flew the nest at the age of 20. Thank you for shaping me with the rich heritage that is deeply rooted in science and logic. . Indian food just like its culture is an amalgamation of learnings from the yogis and influences of the varied cultures that visited (of course some stayed longer than the others 😊). And if you are a true Indian foodie, you live by your condiments and sides that make the everyday plate of an Indian meal. . Presenting here in the Indian Flag 🇮🇳 colors: Turmeric root, pickled. Spiced dahi (homemade yogurt). Mint chutney. . Orange: The world is only now recognizing the health benefits of turmeric, but it has been the base of every Indian meal for centuries. Here I chopped up 1/2 cup of two types of turmeric roots and mixed it with 1 tsp of ground mustard seeds, 2 slit green chilies, juice of 1 lime, salt and 1 tbsp tempered oil with a pinch of mustard seeds. White: Homemade yogurt with a pinch of red chili powder, cumin powder and salt. Green: 2 cups of mint leaves, 1/2 cup coriander leaves, 4 green chilies, 4 pitted dates, salt and juice of 1 lime - all blended together to make the green chutney. . Saying Jai Hind with this tiranga plated expression. . Make it. Share it. Tag it #platedexpressions . This is my contribution to the #tricolorcollab hosted by @vidyascakesandtreats @avishcreations and @tummytaleswithsudha - thanks for hosting, guys and Happy Independence Day! . . . . . #condiments #tricolor #happyindependencedayindia #tiranga #turmeric #turmericrecipes #dahi #mintchutney #foodphotography #foodphoto #raw_foodie #raw_featuremyfood #flatlayphotography #flatlayfood #flatlaytoday #foodartblog #foodstagram #indianfood #indianrecipes #haldi #produceisbeautifulproject
