Jamming cherries.

Jamming cherries. . Let me paint you a picture here... it’s a weekend morning, you are out on your deck or patio, the sun is up, you got your dose of coffee or tea, the birds are chirping, in the distance you hear a lawn mower and a dog barking, squirrels are playing tag in the yard and a smile takes over your face. It’s a good day! And it gets even better when you have homemade cherry jam with a side of toast! 😋 . Cherries are in season and they’ve made it to our house in abundance! So while we enjoy them as a snack as is, they also make their way into salads and more. This time I made jam and it’s as easy as 1-2-3 or A-B-C. . 1 and 1/2 cup pitted cherries (or any fruit), 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup orange juice. All go into a saucepan on the stove at medium heat. Cook for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring from time to time. Add some orange zest to the mix if you like. Cook until cherries are cooked and can be easily mushed and you’ve achieved that jelly consistency. Coarsely mash up cherries. Stir well. Jam is ready! Cool, jar, refrigerate for 2 or 3 weeks. . Serve on toast, or with cheese and crackers or as my kids like - eat straight from the jar! Any which way you like... this jam creates for some colorful #platedexpressions. . Tips: 1)Cook times will vary slightly. Make sure you get that jelly consistency. 2)Pit cherries easily by pushing the pit out with a straw. There are many videos out there that show you how to. 3)I like making this quantity of jam, as it’s just enough to last for a couple of weeks without preservatives. 4)You can use this proportion to make jam with any fruit. 5)Adjust sugar as per taste... I don’t like it too sweet, so my sugar proportion is always on the lower side. 6)Chop cherries, if you like. I left them whole for the bite and texture. . . . . . #jam #homemadejam #cherryjam #jamontoast #fruitjam #easyjam #easyrecipes #quickrecipes #fruit #weekendvibes #fridayvibes #fridaymood #cookingathome #todaybreakfast #cookingwithgoodful #damnthatsdelish #produceisbeautifulproject #freshfruitjam #cookniche #thekitchn #frommykitchen #breakfast #brunch #eatwell #eatfresh #yummy #tasty #tastyrecipes #letseat
