The vanishing grocer Series: Moods and musings For those of us who grew up in the India of 80s and 90s… that crisp morning skip and stroll to the corner grocer with a cloth or straw bag in tow is etched in our memory. It wasn’t a planned grocery run, but more of a “need a fruit or an herb” run that was made because a parent told us to. It never felt a chore, because the grocer most always let us pick something a little extra to nibble on, on the walk home. These corner grocers are slowly becoming a vanishing breed as the supermarkets and their aisles are setting up house on every street.
