Time to get your pie on...

Time to get your pie on... When Thanksgiving comes around and while everyone’s thinking Turkey and fixins... I’m going PIE PIE PIE! Back in the day, pies originated out of the need to have food cooked, stored and traveled with. Some argue it was the Romans and some believe that the Greeks were pie inventors. Whoever it was, if you think of it... such a genius idea! Cook your food in an eco sustainable pot/pan made of grains (aka the pie base) which not only keeps the food inside fresh but also becomes the carrier as you travel. Earlier on, pie bases/crusts weren’t always meant to be eaten, but merely served as the container to cook in. Over time, pie crusts have been experimented with and now there are varied recipes to it. Whether we buy our crust/base or make one from scratch... let’s take a moment as we are laying it out, to transport ourselves to the times where it all started, where the human race was innovating to live and not living to innovate. Simpler times... but lot of learnings. That said, here’s a pie crust from my kitchen. Fun, season festive and ready for the oven! Hey, our ancestors didn’t have the time to get fancy... but they’d be proud that we’ve taken it to the next level. 😊 . . . . . . . . #platedexpressions #pie #piebase #thanksgiving #holiday #holidayseason #thanksgiving2018 #pumpkinpie #pieinthemaking #baking #instafood #instapie #instapic #instagood #picoftheday #frommykitchen #pielove #dessert #falltheme #autumn #autumnleaves #mood #thanksgivingtable #piecrust #piebaking #fancycrust #foodart
