Monochrome Meal

Monochrome Meal . This is my official entry for the July 1 monochrome #foodographycollab hosted by @dr.nimrata and @ace._photography. . I came across this challenge only this morning and didn’t think I had the time to create something, especially since I didn’t want to just take a picture and edit it to be monochromatic. I wanted the ingredients and the dish themselves to be monochromatic. Plus I wanted it to be something we would eat, not something I put together just for the picture. To add to all of that, I had my Red, White and Blue theme going on in my posts this week in honor of July 4th. So I knew if I had to participate I had to keep my colors in the white/cream family to keep in sync with my theme. So with so many self inflicted restrictions... I figured I’d pass this time around. . The evening came around, and I decided to make tortellini for dinner. A storm had just passed by us, leaving behind a beautiful muted sunlight glow in the kitchen. On a whim, I decided to give this challenge a shot. . I quickly gathered a handful of ingredients that fit in the white/cream color family and went at it. What you see here is: cooked cheese tortellini, tossed in light olive oil, garlic powder and a dash of Italian seasoning. Served topped with shaved parmesan cheese, wild mushroom infused sea salt and a drizzle of white truffle oil. Plated in a white porcelain dish and placed over a mother of pearl tray. Props on the side: the wild mushroom salt and parmesan. . Needless to say, the simplicity and purity of this meal is a perfect tribute to the White in the flag... so my theme of the week stays intact. And the best part - the family loved it and enjoyed this platedexpressions’ creation over a game of Bridge. Hope you guys and the judges like it as well! . Make it. Share it.
