“This land is your land and this land is my land.” Series: Moods and musings First picture is an old picture of my kids that’s full of misty eyed memories. We moved to this beautiful neighborhood of small town America almost 20 years ago and every year on July 4th this flag flutters proud by our neighborhood lake, bringing the community together for the annual picnic. Old, young and everyone in between comes together for a day of celebration of patriotic spirit. My kids grew up with this spirit of belonging and my husband and I embraced it as immigrant citizens. That’s what America is about… a welcoming land that all of us have made our own. So today I want to celebrate that spirit and remind whoever is reading this that there is a beautiful side to this country that can empower and can encourage. Let’s bring that spirit to the forefront… it’s positivity might just be the thing we need to push the negativity out. After all, this is our land and we are the fireworks that will kindle the change.
